At Matrix Math, we provide an engaging and detailed learning experience for your child. Matrix Math Tuition programme focuses on essential concepts that will further strengthen their mathematical foundation. The lesson synopsis gives parents a clear preview of the topics and problem-solving skills that will be covered in class. At Matrix Math, we ensure that each lesson is designed to build confidence and mastery in math, preparing students for success in both school and beyond.
Primary 1 Lesson 24
In Lesson 24, we will be continuing with the topic “Numbers to 40.“
In the upcoming session, we’ll revisit the crucial concept of “Part and Whole“. This lesson will primarily focus on helping students identify the “Parts” and the “Whole” in a problem sum, and understand the question’s intent. Our aim is to ensure they understand whether the question is seeking the “Parts” or the “Whole”.
By gaining a deeper understanding of this foundational concept, students will be better equipped to solve a wider range of problem sums.
Primary 2 Lesson 24
This week, we will introduce a new topic to our students: “Money“. We will cover the following essential aspects of money management:
Writing money in words and values: Students will learn how to express monetary amounts in both words and numerical values.
Comparing and ordering: This skill will enable students to compare and order different monetary amounts.
Conversion: Students will be taught how to convert between dollars and cents.
Denomination: We will familiarise students with various denominations of coins and bills, helping them better understand the concept of money.
To ensure a strong foundation in this topic, we will incorporate basic problem-solving exercises involving money.
Primary 3 Lesson 24
In Lesson 24, we will continue with our second lesson on Fractions, focusing specifically on solving problem sums using the part-whole model method.
Students will learn to:
- Apply the basic part-whole model to solve fraction word problems.
- Use split part-whole models, which are especially useful when working with fractions that have different denominators.
This lesson aims to help students build a strong visual understanding of fraction relationships and prepare them for more complex fraction problems ahead.
Primary 4 Lesson 24
This week, we will continue our exploration of Fractions.
This lesson will focus on four key problem-solving concepts:
- External transfer with one unchanged – find group.
- External transfer with 1 unchanged – find change.
- Internal proportion transfer.
- External proportion transfer.
This lesson will delve into some of the more challenging concepts in Fractions, particularly those that involve the transfer of values, both internally and externally, in terms of quantity and proportion.
Primary 5 Lesson 24
In Lesson 24, we will continue our work on Rates, focusing on three key problem types involving volume:
- Basic Rate Problems – Finding volume based on a given rate.
- Total Rate Problems – Calculating total volume using combined rates.
- Rate Difference Problems – Solving problems that involve differences in rates to find volume.
In addition to rate-based problems, we will also introduce multiplication and division with decimals, helping students strengthen their operational fluency with decimal numbers.
Primary 6 Lesson 24
In Lesson 24, we will review the topic of Area and Perimeter.
The fundamentals of Area and Perimeter were already taught during Primary 4 and 5.
However, in this upcoming lesson, we have created questions that combine the shapes of triangles, squares, and rectangles. As a result, most of the questions covered will be higher-order in nature.
